I hope the numbness lifted quickly,
I hate to think you suffered
for me.
I believed in good of everyone,
and often denied the evil of some.
It’s not your fault my dormant nature
sidelined your efforts to nurture.
I didn’t see the monster you feared,
so I didn’t scream when danger neared.
Numbness never came to me,
It passed to you, blame proximity.
I conjured it to say goodbye,
an energy built ‘til you die.
